3 Things You Need to Know as a Writer

Short blog post but I thought I would share anyway! 🤎

1. Writing is hard work. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! A lot of work goes into writing. Structure, technique, plot, characterization, etc.—a lot of elements go into a book. Be proud of what you’re doing!

2. The world needs your story. It’s true that not everyone will like your book, but you should write for yourself and those who need your story.

3. Every stage, from writing to editing is important. If you’re going to share your work for free, writing and then self-editing is perfectly fine! However, if you are going to slap a price on your book, you are taking someone’s hard-earned money, and they should be getting a quality product. Self-editing won’t cut it. Hiring an editor to check over your work is always advised. However, at the very least, you should hire a proofreader. Publishers don’t put unedited books on the market. Self-publishing should be no different. Getting feedback from another person can help you make the necessary tweak second advance your book into the hands of readers. Editing is where the pieces of the puzzle come together.

Hope this gave you some writing motivation! 🤎

XO,

Ashley
