Burnout in Writers

Welcome to another #WriterWarnings! Today, we’re going to talk about burnout and the writer experience when it comes to burnout 🤎

Burnout can cause your motivation, creativity, inspiration to suffer.

Social media can make us feel like we should be writing 24/7 and releasing a brand new book every few months. Most of the time, this isn't possible. Unless you hoard multiple books to release them within a few months of each other.

Pressure and burnout can become severe enough to cause you to drop writing for an extensive period of time. So here is your warning: rather than pushing yourself to this breaking point, take that time to yourself. Set aside time for self-care. Allow yourself that day off. Allow yourself to take a breath.

"During my college days, I was going to school full-time, working part-time, and then writing whenever I wasn't doing homework. By the time I graduated and started Earley Editing, LLC, my motivation to write was gone. My critique partner went through something similar once she received her Master's in Creative Writing. Writing burnout is serious and can have long-lasting consequences. I haven't written anything in over a year now. Be careful of burn out when it comes to writing and your career"—@Ashley Earley (CEO of Earley Editing, LLC)
