How to Enjoy Being a Writer

  • Write what you want.

  • Enjoy what you’re working on. You’ll finish your draft before you know it.

  • Celebrate your wins, no matter how small.

  • Define what success means to YOU. This looks different for everyone, so you need to learn to define it for yourself!

  • Marvel over your own creativity.

  • Accept that first drafts suck. The revision and editing process is for correcting your draft’s suckiness!

  • TRY! No matter what is is, try. Because you’ll never know unless you try.

  • Give yourself time instead of forcing words on the page. Listen to your creative mind.

  • Finish your draft before you edit/revise. You’ll go bananas if you go back and forth between writing and making corrections.

  • Maintain a healthy balance of what works for you.
